Openers lead the way

AN OPENING stand of 182 between Irfan Zahoor and Bruce Cruse laid the foundations for Delph’s seven-wicket win over Emley Clarence in premiership one of the Drakes Huddersfield League.

Zahoor made a rapid 109 from 82 balls — eight fours and 10 sixes — while Cruse was dismissed four runs short of a deserved century. He hit 17 fours in his 116-ball stay.

Emley had earlier amassed 263 for four, with Warren Janes picking up two of the wickets to fall.
