Davies has been drafted into the Welsh squad for their under-21 international with Stuart Pearce’s team at Wrexham on Thursday night.
The 22-year-old is included as an over-age player and could face high-class opponents including Arsenal star Theo Walcott, Middlesbrough defender David Wheater and Aston Villa’s Gabriel Agbonlahor.
Davies was called in to replace Manchester City forward Ched Evans, who is needed for his club’s tour of Thailand, and joins Athletic team-mate Neal Eardley in the Welsh set-up.
Both men have won full international honours this season and appeared in the same Wales team who achieved an emphatic victory over Norway.
At under-21 level, Davies holds eight caps and is one of only four Welsh players – the others being Evans, Lee Jones and John Hartson – to score a hat-trick.
There is a major incentive to perform well in this week’s friendly as Wales are approaching two full internationals within the next month.
They face Iceland before taking on Holland, who will be preparing for the Euro 2008 finals which get under way on June 7.
Meanwhile, two more events are being staged to boost the Ernie Cooksey Treatment Fund.
OWTB FC, a team representing Latics fans, will meet Hurst Cross AUFC, representing Ashton United, at Ashton United on Saturday, kick off 2pm.
Events, which include raffles, auctions and a penalty shoot-out, start 90 minutes earlier and admission is via donation.
In addition, Oldham Athletic Supporters’ Association are donating the proceeds from their next quiz night, which takes place on Monday in the Boundary Park sponsors’ suite (7.45pm), to the Treatment Fund.
In the League One play-off semi-finals, it is advantage Carlisle United following their 2-1 victory at Leeds last night.
The eventual winners will meet either Southend or Doncaster, who are level at 0–0 after the first leg at Roots Hall.
