December Newsletter

WELCOME to December’s newsletter. We have started to organise trips to the theatre ready for 2013 to shows such as Disney on Ice, Dirty Dancing and War Horse, so have a look below for further information about dates and prices.

We still have limited places available to the Skipton markets and Chester with a lunch, or try something different and experience the Santa Train where the children will meet Father Christmas and receive a special gift. Also this month we are teaming up with Smokies Park Hotel to bring you a traditional lunch and a sing-a-long to golden oldies music.

We have a great selection of shows coming for 2013! Why not treat someone special to one of these fantastic shows as a Christmas present! Our price includes stall tickets and return coaching so you can sit back and enjoy the show without worrying about the parking. If you would like to spread the cost, we offer the opportunity to pay a nominal deposit to secure your booking. Chronicle gift vouchers are also available which can be redeemed against any of our Chronicle day or theatre trips.

Skipton Yuletide Christmas Festival – Sunday 9th December, £16

Enjoy the bustling atmosphere of this beautiful, market town in the heart of the Dales as it celebrates Christmas with street entertainment, brass bands and much more.
The Yuletide Festival is an ideal opportunity to sample a great atmosphere – and to bag yourself a pre-Christmas bargain at the same time.

Chronicle Festival of Carols - Thursday 13th December, minimum donation £2

The Oldham Evening Chronicle Festival of Carols is a very popular annual event attended by the Mayor of Oldham. Former television presenter Marjorie Stephinson MBE will host the event. Local schools and adult choirs perform Christmas themed acts. If you would like to join us, doors open from 6:45pm for 7:30pm start.

Santa Train – Saturday 15th December

Enjoy the excitement of a steam train journey combined with the magic of Christmas on our East Lancashire Railways Santa Special Steam Train.

Meet the jolly man himself and his helpers as they hand out presents for the children and a mince pie and festive drink for the adults. See the beautiful decorations in the station and on the carriages. Join in singing Christmas carols accompanied by a live brass band. There really is no better way to get into the festive spirit!

Stockport Air Raid Shelters, Quarry Bank & Broadstone - Wednesday 13th February, £26

Step back in time to 1940s wartime Britain and enjoy a private Chronicle only group tour of Stockport Air Raid Shelters. Then visit Quarry Bank Mill for more nostalgia… Quarry Bank is one of Britain's greatest industrial heritage sites, showing how a complete industrial community lived and experience the atmosphere of the Industrial Revolution.

Last stop of the day is to Broadstone Mill Shopping Outlet. Having opened in 2001, Broadstone Mill is now home to more than 100 retailers in a huge red brick former cotton mill.

Concorde & Football Museum – Monday 18th February, £25

This day out is just the ticket for Dads, Granddads & children…

Enjoy a morning visit to The Runway Visitor Park at Manchester Airport located adjacent to the busy international airport’s two runways. There you will be given a guided tour of Concorde itself with onboard access and informative commentary.

Following the tour it’s on to City Centre Manchester with free time to grab a bite to eat in one of the many restaurants, cafes & bars in the heart the City before the commencement of the next part of the day - a tour of the National Football Museum.
