MARC Klok has left Athletic wishing he had the chance to show fans more of what he has to offer.

The popular 23-year-old Dutch midfielder said his goodbyes late last week after the club opted not to extend his short-term deal.

SUMMER

Klok, one of Stephen Robinson's summer signings, made 12 appearances in total, with eight from the start. He picks out his personal highlight as being the assist from a free-kick that led to Peter Clarke's goal in the 1-1 draw at Bradford in late August.

Klok's last appearance for the club was off the bench in the 2-0 victory over Scunthorpe. A calf injury restricted him after that and now, he is mulling over offers from Romania and Bulgaria as well as possibilities in League One as he plots his next move.

"I feel my stay was too short to really illustrate what I am about," said Klok, who got fans fired up in the early part of the season with his energetic displays.

"I started the season well and was in and around the team. Then the manager made changes and from there, I suffered an injury and didn't feature in his plans again.

"Football is a strange sport sometimes. You have to take on those decisions and accept them even if they are unfortunate for you in that moment.

"I don't think I have shown who Marc Klok is - that's the frustration.

"Results when I did play were good and we only lost twice in the league.

"This is the way that football goes sometimes. I do feel that things always happen for a reason.

'SUPPORTERS'

"I would never say anything bad about my time here. The lads are great and there are great people at the club along with the supporters.

"I am speaking to a few clubs who are interested, so we will have to see what that leads to."

Klok is now on trial at Bristol Rovers and appeared for the reserves against Swindon this week.
