JOHN Sheridan has apologised for his actions in a tirade while Notts County manager which earned him a five-match touchline ban.

The FA have released a transcript of the incident that occurred during a 2-0 loss at home to Wycombe in December.

According to the report, Sheridan told referee Eddie Ilderton, "My kids aren't going to get any ******* Christmas presents because of you" and said to fourth official Matt Donohoue, "You really are a ****. I'm gonna knock you out you ****."

Referee Ilderton's report added: "In the 55th minute fourth official Matthew Donohue informed me that Notts County manager John Sheridan should be removed from the technical area for his behaviour towards himself.

"I then asked Mr Sheridan to leave the technical area, and take a place in the stands

"Mr Sheridan then said to me 'You're a ******* disgrace, you ******* useless, you've not ******* got anything right today, you should be ******* ashamed, you're ******* ****."

Sheridan was apologetic for his role in the incident.

'HEATED UP'

"The language was just not right and it's something I don't agree with whatsoever," he said.

"I was very heated up. I don't know how it has come out now, but I have served my punishment and of course, I regret doing it.

"There were three massive decisions on the day. I was managing a team near the bottom of the league where we were fighting for our lives and I believed three decisions that were made were totally wrong.

"The fourth official, who was young, I felt he was actually winding me up and it wasn't the right time for me to get wound up.

"I actually went in straight after the game and apologised.

"But I have children at home. I should not be using language like that and it doesn't come across well for me.

"It was six weeks ago. I don't know why it's not come out earlier. Someone is probably stirring one or two things, but I'm not happy with myself and I should never have done it."
