Match views . . . Peterborough

JOHN Sheridan was left a little disappointed at his team's off-key showing at Peterborough, after a draw made it one defeat in the last nine:

"We should have seen the game out a little bit better and controlled the game more.

"That's what I was getting a little bit frustrated on the sideline. You get the goal and then, usually when we score we have done well and gone on to win.

"There were too many little misplaced passes and not taking care of the ball. We could have got the opposition on the back foot more, but gave it away cheaply.

"They had probably more chances than us in the first half.

"You will come unstuck if you keep allowing it to happen. I felt as though too many players were allowing each other to do the wrong things and the only voice you could hear was mine.

"Players who nearly do this and nearly do that don't get regular places in the side and I made that point to them.

"Paul Green, since he has come in, has left nothing short out on the pitch and he knows what he is doing for the team. You need those. He has had a good career because he is hungry.

"But I don't want to be too hard on them. It was a hard-fought point after a good result against Oxford. We have come away from two hard games with four points.

"We could have won it in the second half. I was disappointed with the goal we conceded, but we take the point and move on."

Peterborough manager Grant McCann felt his men paid the price for a sloppy opening to the game:

"We keep shooting ourselves in the foot. We keep conceding the first goal and that makes any game difficult.

"It was a sloppy goal to concede as well with one ball taking out Michael Bostwick and Andrew Hughes. It was a good finish by the lad (Lee Erwin), but we work combating that sort of sloppiness all the time.

"Once the players cross the white line they have to roll up their sleeves and be prepared to die for the club rather than concede a goal, but we were caught sleeping.

"We saw plenty of ball in the first-half, but I felt too many of us were going through the motions.

"I got into them a bit at the break and there was sort of a response. We got about them a bit better, but we didn't play well.

"Luckily the substitutions made a difference. Marcus (Maddison) always produces something when he gets the ball on his left foot and it was an excellent finish from Junior. He could have scored again soon afterwards, but Oldham also had chances to win the game.

"Oldham make life difficult for opponents. They don't let many goals in, but we are much better than what we showed. Marcus and Junior gave us an edge. Before they came on too many of our attacks just petered out."
