EXPERIENCED Athletic midfielder Paul Green can't wait to play for another season under the guidance of influential manager John Sheridan.

Former Doncaster, Derby, Leeds and Rotherham campaigner Green (34) has now signed up for another 12 months at SportsDirect.com Park - a popular move with the Athletic faithful - and he has revealed that he didn't have to think long and hard before putting pen to paper.

Green, who made 47 appearances last season, scoring one goal, said: "I'm excited to get another year under my belt and the way we finished the season, I just think that there is a lot of good things that can happen at this club and that's why I've signed another year.

"It was an easy decision for me, especially with the gaffer coming in.

"Playing under him and working with him, I know what he's all about and he knows the league so hopefully we can push on this year.

"I spoke to him at the end of the season and he said that he wanted to keep me so I went away and thought about it and it was an easy decision to sign for another year."

Green helped Athletic battle away from the foot of the table at Christmas to finish 17th last season, but has set his sights much higher this time around.

"The way we finished the season, if we can start like that then we can be there or there abouts," he added.

"We have a good group of players and good togetherness in the changing room so we can take it into next year as well.

"We need to push up the league and finish as high as possible.

"With the squad that we've got I'm sure we can push for the play-offs."

ATHLETIC will hold a laundry sale on Saturday.

The sale will run from 9am until noon at SportsDirect.com Park. Supporters should visit the main entrance on Furtherwood Road.

Kits, training gear and other accessories will be available to buy, so do not miss out on these bargains.
