Grim future for Latics?

Date published: 29 April 2009

EVERYONE should wake up to the fact that Oldham is no more than a poor deprived old cotton town.

Latics is not a very attractive club either to own or to play for.

I see a very grim future for them.

In reality, I think they have had their day and and didn’t have the ambition to capitalise on it.

The support is not there. The money is not there and never will be.

TRUE TO FACT

WELL I for one am just glad we have a football team to watch in Oldham.

It wasn’t long ago we nearly lost it.

If we do go down I will still go.

In these climates teams like us need to keep it tight.

We get average attendances, we have average ground, with average players for this league so we are where we are supposed to be, if not punching above our weight.

Live with that or forever be disappointed.

JOE was brought in because of his track record with limited budgets.

The board - knowing full well what will happen next season — wanted someone with this experience plus someone the fans will love so Joe was the obvious solution.

I don’t blame him for going - and whoever comes in next year must be prepared for a relegation scrap.

THE reason Royle’s gone is that it wasn’t as easy a job as he thought it would be.

Can’t keep blaming Sheridan — at least he was able to win some of his matches in charge.

Not so sure Royle has the players’ respect either - that many players have been ‘fired off’ since Royle’s arrival that they don’t know if they are going to be next.

JOE, you will always be loved by the vast majority of Oldham fans for life.

It didn’t take you long to see what was happening at the club and that a lot of the players are not up to the job.

Can only think of one young manager that could work miracles with no money ,that’s Paul Ince — No 1 on my list.

WHY can’t they tell the truth. Joe was willing to stay but he has been told the paltry sum he will have to work with for next season and perform miracles.

Basically he has seen the light and thought it’s time to go.

ENOUGH is enough. Better without Liddell and Hughes?

Hughes 41 appearances, 18 goals. Since being dropped in December, Liddell has started once. Result? 24 games, only five wins.

Without Liddell we had two wingers who can barely cross a ball. No wonder the goals dried up. Without Hughes we would have been relegated.

By all means look to the future - but don’t patronise the fans.
