ATHLETIC have completed the signing of goalkeeper Dean Brill on a two-year contract.
The 23-year-old shot-stopper was released by Luton Town at the end of May after making 81 appearances for the Kenilworth Road outfit.
Brill, who also had a spell on loan at Gillingham, played for the Hatters in last season’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final victory over Scunthorpe United at Wembley.
Athletic boss Dave Penney earmarked a new ’keeper to provide competition for Greg Fleming.

Sound. Backup keeper. Now get Haining (and definitely not Ian Moore) in. I'm sure RG2403 will have some thoughts on it.....
Brill is a sound keeper, much better than Crossley at 40. However, Ian Moore has never been and never will be a decent goal threat. There are much better, younger strikers in the lower leagues that dont have an agenda against the latics like he has. Im not telling penney how to do his job, becuase if he signs Moore and he does well I will be the first to say I was wrong! And ive been wrong before, but not very often...
Do I sniff ambition in the recent signings? I have to give DP some credit, he did not raid his former club as anticipated, but has signed some young players who still have a desire to do better. Go on DP, Haining and Hughes may well be the final links.
Brill is another very accomplished signing. I am not sure whether he will be the back up but his arrival will certainly sharpen up the wits and reactions of him and Fleming.
Good signing, I have read alot of good things about Brill and like 'petag' says get hughesy and haining signed up and we could be there at the end. I can't wait to get going, Come on Oldham!!

what appears to be another decent signing, if hughesy and haining sign up I don't think we'll be too far away this season, just depends if they can all gel and we don'ttoo many injuries
