Stockport MATCH OFF

Reporter: by Matthew Chambers
Date online: 02/02/2010

Athletic's game at Stockport County tonight has been postponed following heavy rain throughout the day.
There was an inspection at 4.30pm this afternoon with the Edgeley Park pitch holding water and conditions were deemed too bad to allow the game to go ahead.
That takes the tally of matches Athletic have had postponed this season to SIX leaving them with a real fixture pile-up as they bid to climb out of the Division One relegation places.
The postponement also delayed the debut for on-loan signing Jason Price who will now have to wait until the vital weekend clash at Tranmere Rovers.

I blame Dave Penney for this.

After watching Bury and Rochdale last night and the state of Stockport and Latics. What a shabby state of affairs local lower league football is in. Split to north and south for league 1 and 2 and get some fans through the turnstiles and re-ingite these local rivalries.

Amazing first saturdays game is called off due to a frozen pitch, then tonights game at Stockport called off due to a wet pitch, did anyone see the rugby friday night they played in the snow on a snow covered pitch, as Chris Camara would say UNBELIEVABLE

i suppose this is the owners fault too ammypam.
you can see the excuses from penney now cant you when we get beat at tranmere, players with no match practice, no chance for the new player to gel with the others.
why cant penney organise a match behind closed doors for weds. a competitive match anything. oh the man winds me up

Lucky you Dave another wage on friday thanks to this cancellation. lets be honest if we played and lost you have got to resign! Pride must tell you that? or if not the board should. Hardy you can see what sould be done even if the others can not voice your concerns to the other directors if you think anthing about this club. League 2 here we come unless you sack DP NOW!

Nice one oafc0000, They can't even afford a four sided stadium let alone put a roof on it. In fact thay can't afford the ground to put a new stadium on and are having to rely on the Council giving them the memorial ground. The Lancaster club is not sufficient on its own.

Wouldnt it be good if all matches called off, in the league, got 1 point each and no rearranged fixture, we would have 34 points now and feel fairly secure that we could escape relegation, this season at least.
Plus DP could not use "lack of match practice/fitness/playing together/no time to gel/injuries to key players/ and the cats not very well (if he could get away with it) The key to the problem is the door to BP, a lot of dead wood needs to be shown the door and told to close it behind them.

funkster - when have I blamed the weather on the owners? But one day they will walk away from Latics when they have left us completely submerged in the brown stuff, tired of their little hobby which they can't finance.

ammypam you have slagged off the owners at every chance and who could blame them for leaving us in the brown stuff, they must be a few grand out of pocket and you and your posse oldham scotland etc have done nothing but moan about them.
i have a problem with penney thats there only mistake of trying to better our club.
its not a bottomless pit, they have had obstacles put in front of every proposal they have come up with. crikey you must have give chris moore hell if this is how you treat the 3A
