Athletic fail in Price loan bid

ATHLETIC won’t have Jason Price in their line-up against Leyton Orient tonight.
The 32-year-old striker has returned to his parent club Millwall after his loan was not renewed, despite Athletic being keen to get him back on board for a further month.
The sticking point is believed to be at the Millwall end, with the Lions currently experiencing a shortage up front due to injuries to Gary Alexander and Neil Harris.
It means that Athletic officials will turn their attentions elsewhere in a bid to bring an alternative attacking player, who could go straight into the team for a game at Boundary Park that has been described as “massive” by Dave Penney.
“It was a good point when you look at it down at Exeter but we have two games now coming up and it is important we pick up as many points as we can,” said the Athletic manager, who has another home match on Saturday against Wycombe Wanderers.
“We need to keep Southend and Exeter — who play each other on Saturday — below us.
“In general we have been playing quite well at home. Millwall, Norwich and Walsall were all decent performances and it is a matter of turning those performances into goals.
“It was nice to see us get a goal from a set piece at Exeter and a goal from a different area that takes some of the pressure off the strikers if they are not scoring.”
Athletic head into the Coca-Cola League One clash in search of their first double of the season, following the 2-1 win at Brisbane Road on the second week of the season in which Pawel Abbott scored twice.
That game remains the only occasion on which an Athletic man has hit the net more than once in a match in 2009-10.
Penney is without Keigan Parker (groin strain) and Alex Marrow (illness) tonight after both men missed the Exeter trip. Both players should be back it time for the weekend.
Athletic (from): Brill, Lee, Hazell, Gregan, Jacobson, Colbeck, Furman, Stephens, Taylor, Abbott, Nardiello, Whitaker, Colbeck,Smalley, Flahavan, Aljofree, Black, Worthington, Goodwin, Brooke, Eaves.
Orient arrive at Boundary Park on the back of a six-game winless run.
They currently lie 16th in the table, five points clear of Athletic but having played two matches more.

Come on lads, Lets get behind Latics tonight!
"...a game at Boundary Park that has been described as “massive” by Dave Penney."
Good call Dave.
Will you play it down as "not that important", if we draw or lose the game? I'm afraid your behaviour towards the traveling fans at Exeter has negated anything you say from now on, in my opinion.
"PENNEY OUT"
Thank god for that... at least the millwall manager knows whats best for us

E-bay perhaps?
a must win no excuses anymore dave. 6 points in next 2 games
'Its a matter of turning these performances into goals'
Will DP be saying this when we are in league 2, because the way the board are going, they will back DP until his contract ends,so maybe a relegation fight in League 2 next season then. Its about time this idiot realised its the useless tatics that he is employing that has got us in this mess.
just read the article on OAFC website about the laying of synthetic grass on the touch lines. It says that the synthetic turf is considered better than natural turf for the areas which are subject to considerable traffic and damage throughout the season. No need to lay any in the goal mouth then!!
Penney's comments get more surreal by the day..."It was nice to see us get a goal from a set piece at Exeter and a goal from a different area that takes some of the pressure off the strikers if they are not scoring.”...of couse its nice to see a goal when you havent scored in 3 games!! Does he realy thinks that there shouldnt be pressure on the strikers to score now Gregan has helped out?? I predict tomorrows comments will be about a good point at home against a bigger club...
Let me give you the the next 2 post match Penny excuses now, it might save us all the agony later.
"Lets not forget Orient is a team in form having only lost 2 of the last 10 games they played Bristol Rovers in February and won 5-0. It was always going to be a hard game."
" Lets not forget Wycombe is a team in form only having lost 2 of the last 8 games they played at Bristol Rovers in January and won 3-2"
Please end this misery of ineptitude.
Only Oldham could headhunt a manager off Darlington

E-bay perhaps?
Old Manc, remember when Wycombe signed Roy Essandoh off teletext, and he helped them to the FA Cup semi final?
Ebay might not be a bad idea ;-)
I echo what funkster37 said, we've got to win this
Febian Brandy - said no again. 3rd time we have asked him to sign and he said NO
When will DP take the hint he doesnt want to sign for us ?
What about Mark Ward he is doing the rounds,he is out and available from right wing to B wing
Colchester manager Aidy Boothroyd told BBC Essex:
"The important thing is that when you play as bad as as that you keep clean sheets and we have a good habit of doing that.
"Overall I'm disappointed that we got the draw, but we didn't deserve anything other than that.
"Brighton maybe feel a bit disappointed that they go away with just a point."
I just wish Penney could be this realistic....
Old Mancunian E-Bay do not allow time wasters, and do not be too suprised to get beaten tonight.
A vital two points but it'll take more than the odd win to prevent disaster. Nice to keep a clean sheet though and see the ball hit the net. I hope we don't get DP saying 'Told you so!'. It's only one match, and we've won the odd match before. Whatever the final placing this season Penney must still be shown the door.
I think you'll find it's3 points dramasingapore
Yes, I stand corrected Chaddyender. Typo' error (must be the time difference).
Have Your Say

'It was a good point at Exeter.....blah! blah!' 'It's important we pick up as many points as we can'. Who said these classic lines? Yes! DP. The supporters I have been in contact with over the past few days all wish that he would do something re-assuring - such as D(e)P(art) quickly. Is the man really capable of understanding what success and failure are? Why is he so blinkered? Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!
