THE attendance of 3,126 for the home game against Leyton Orient was Athletic's lowest for a league fixture at Boundary Park for nine years.
You have to go back to the January 23, 2001, for a lower figure. Under manager Andy Ritchie, Athletic beat Luton 2-0 thanks to goals from Paul Rickers and John Sheridan in front of a paltry crowd of 3,011.
The Orient game also hosted the second-lowest crowd for any league game involving Athletic this season, with only the away fixture at frost-bound Hartlepool (2,634) drawing fewer spectators.

There you go Latics this story says it all, at least 2,000 staying away with that joker in charge, GET RID OF PENNEY, 2,000 extra fans at £20 equals £40,000 plus programmes, pies & drinks takes it over £45,000, thats how much you are losing every game, that would definately give you the revenue to pay him off.

since our days in the premiership we have become a league 2 sized club.unfortunately all those hangers on have gone back to city and united who in those days where an embarrassment and we have done little on the pitch to capture the imagination of anyone else.bearing in mind the prediciments of clubs like oxford, luton and notts county how can we expect anything more than what we have now withuot some eccentric millionaire taking over the club.and splashing the cash.
The fans are voting with their feet and even if we go on a decent run and avoid the drop, I think too much damage has been done by Penney's apparent disregard for this club and it's fans.
Time for the marketing dept. to get their thinking caps on and supplement the offers that are already available by making the matchday experience a bit more palatable.
that gate sums it all up! one win will not make any difference. if we are lucky we will end up about 14th, and sadly the same again next year!
it's simply too expensive for what we get, it's a shame because I know supporters of other teams acccuse us Latics fans of being very fickle but what can we do when the floating fan is scared off?
Most businesses when suffering down truns in trade, cut back on staff etc... not at Boundary Park though.

The other three (despite what some fans would appear to want) are going to have to be three three amigos BUT what about Penney, his assistant and some of the dross they've brought in? It could be a shipload!!!

The fans won't return in any significant numbers whilst the team fail to win on a regular basis and DP shows such disrespect for the supporters. Oldham is not a rich town and many fans struggle to pay the match entrance fees but they are not, at the present time, getting their monies worth. They are certainly not appreciated by DP et al.
If Latics do retain their League 1 status it won't be because of DP, but rather despite DP being in charge. Please leave DP. You know it makes sense.
