Latics go for loan Guy
Reporter: MATTHEW CHAMBERS

LATICS this afternoon signed Doncaster striker Lewis Guy on a month's loan.
Guy, 24, had a spell out on loan last season at Hartlepool United but failed to find the net in four appearances.
The Penrith-born player who began his career at Newcastle United joined Rovers in the 2004-5 season.
His career record to date is 161 games and 21 goals. His last goal for Rovers was in Augist, 2008.
It remains to be seen whether Guy goes straight into Dave Penney's squad for tomorrow's vital 'game in hand' at bottom club Stockport County.

Yet another great find from over the border. Penny take note and start with the youth, who will give 110% effort, not some one who just turning up for quick run out.
Who is he?????????. Fantastic statistics, so should fit in with penny plans!!!!!!!!!
Inspired....
161 games 21 goals . Last goal August 2008.. Just the striker needed to boost Latics goal tally..That will really pull the crowds in at BP.... Well done Mr. Penney.. Top of the class for ambition.
CLUELESS PENNEY, ANOTHER PANIC SIGNING, NO ONE ELSE WILL COME TO LATICS SO HE OPTS TO RAID ANOTHER OF HIS OLD PLAYERS
Another Doncaster OLD BOY.
Oh dear oh dear oh dear.
I understand we need another Striker to come in but please use your BRAIN Penney. This final loan signing WILL signal the end of your managerial career at Latics. You will be a coach at Leeds next season with your mate GS.
Lets be honest, we could play Rooney upfront and he still wouldn't score!! O'Grady, Hughes, Killen, Porter all keep popping them in (even Price scored at the weekend). Service from quality players and not muppets will save us now......
Good luck guy!
Nice one Dave NOT!
Oh dear it's just getting worse as each day goes by, quite clearly as we now have the same scenario as we had with Shez....panic !.panic ! and panic again! just get anybody in who WILL IN FACT COME TO B.P. ....I hope the lad scores a pan full, but what about the effect on our own registered playaers - WHO ARE LATICS PLAYERS AFTER ALL !... ONCE AGAIN YET ANOTHER MOVE THAT DESTROYS THE CLUB FROM THE GRASS ROOTS UPWARDS.
I once thought D.P. was the answer - only once mind you ! I WAS WRONG.
Players will come to struggling clubs, hence look at Tom Heaton at Wycombe on Saturday from Man U, a good young goal keeper miles ahead of Dean Brill. Yes this is another pathetic signing, but its mostly down to wage contribution, if you have not the right funds, your never going to get anyone decent and i am not talking silly wages. If they want to inspire the fans to come back getting a decent striker would go a long way and may by the end of the season with returning fans pay for itself.
PANIC BUY FROM PENNEY. He is clueless,21 goals in 161 games is not good at all. Time for PENNEY to go now as enuff is enuff. I am going to Stockport,YES I must be mad but I still support my team.
Not another from Doncaster! Some one else who cant find the net, give our young players a chance for gods sake. They will be better than any you bring in. Penney, get out of our club please, go why dont you? Go back to Doncaster on loan we will be only to pleased to let you go. LISTEN TO THE FANS AND GO NOW
I thought we were going to sign a striker Must have got my wires crossed ummmm da da dum dum silly me !
Give me strength, I would rather play Brooke and Eaves than another no hope loan signing
PENNEY FOR THE GUY!
THE CLUB IS ALREADY BURNING DOWN!
I'd like to give the lad a chance, but 24 goals in 192 games - according to Latics' website - doesn't sound very promising. I hope I'm wrong!
I bet Parker is a happy man being cheered when he was taken off!! I sit quite close to Penney and Gray. When we scored against Orient, Gray turned round to the crowd and gave everyone the type of look you give to fans from another club that you hate, never mind your own fans. I would love to see the back of these two. Then in June 2011, when the contracts run out, the dross they have signed, because no one is going to want Brill, Parker, Holdsworth, Purdie, Worthington, etc etc.
Sems to say it all - DP brings in a stiker who doesn't score. He may prove lucky but that's asking for a lot. It suggests to me that players out there aren't impressed with Penney and won't come to the club.
theoman quality punt that you should be in editing.
another old boy, cant attract new friends mr p
60-odd games for our loan strikers, 5 goals. Why does nobody have a go at the board? THEY tell Penney that he can't BUY anybody, only players on loan, who, let's face it, wouldn't be on loan if they were any good. They aren't helping us but we help the other clubs to reduce their wage bill/get their players match fit/put the player in the shop window. Loans DON'T WORK, why can't anybody see that?
Have Your Say

Oh dear.
