Johnson: we’ll get the job done

ATHLETIC manager Lee Johnson came out fighting after last night’s latest defeat — and promised to work as hard as he can to bring in fresh blood to stimulate recovery.

Johnson wants to sign two players this week following the 2-0 home defeat by Rotherham. The emergency loan window is open until March 27.

Jonson Clarke-Harris has served his suspension and will be available for Saturday's game at Gresty Road. David Worrall – on loan from the Millers and ineligible last night – will also be in contention and James Dayton’s knee injury might recover in time.

“This is what I have wanted and this is what I have worked hard for,” said Johnson, who was forced to haul off lively full debutant John Paul Kissock with a groin injury in the second half.

“I am certainly not going to lay down and die. I wish I had stayed fit enough to stick my boots back on as I know the character I had as a player.

“We need help, and that is evident. It won’t be easy, but we will give it our all and I am sure we can get out of it.”

Up against a physically imposing side assembled by Steve Evans, Johnson admitted he could foresee the events of last night occurring.

“I am very disappointed, but I can’t say shocked,” he said. “I have been thinking we are physically a bit weak. You can get away with two or three, but not seven or eight.”
