Ace Wilson fronts Sky Blues thinking

COVENTRY hot-shot Callum Wilson will be desperate to hit the goal trail when the Sky Blues arrive at Boundary Park on Easter Monday.

The home-grown 22 year old is involved in a personal battle to finish the season top of the scoring charts.

Last Saturday, Wilson found himself on the same pitch as rival Britt Assombalonga of Peterborough, also on 21 strikes for the season. Sam Baldock, who struck for Bristol City that afternoon, is on the same number.

Neither Wilson nor Assombalonga managed to score as Posh defeated Coventry 1-0 at London Road.

For Sky Blues centre-back Jordan Clarke, though, there is no doubt as to who is the superior player.

“Assombalonga is a very good striker at this level but Callum is tougher to mark,” he told the Coventry Telegraph.

“Callum’s movement is different. Assombalonga’s a strong boy and has good feet, but Callum moves all over the place and is really hard to pick up.”

Wilson’s strike partner is likely to be one of two players currently on loan at the Sixfields-based club.

Nathan Eccleston — educated at Failsworth School — is on loan from Blackpool but has not yet found the target in five outings for Steven Pressley’s side.
