Little Leo set to lead out Latics

Date published: 29 July 2014

A FOOTBALL-mad two-year-old, who needs a life-changing operation before he can play his beloved sport, will lead out Latics at the weekend.

Leo Scott, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when he was one, relies on a frame to walk and has to wear leg braces.

All the youngster, of Shaw Road, wants to do is play football with his friends.

To help him realise his dream, Leo’s parents need to raise £45,000 for an operation which would release the tightness in his muscles allowing him to walk unaided and live a much more active life.

Frustrated

But the main thing on his mind at the moment is Saturday when he will be special guest mascot at SportsDirect.com Park for the pre-season friendly between Latics and Huddersfield Town.

His mother, Cara Oldham, said: “Leo has nothing wrong with him mentally so he’s at that age where he wants to do everything on his own but he physically can’t do it and he’s getting frustrated. Having this operation will cancel out all the stress he gets and it would really make his life so much better.”

Bucket collectors will be on the turnstiles and walking around the stadium as the football club help to make Leo’s dream of walking a reality.
