ATHLETIC boss Lee Johnson has explained the club’s decision to adopt a new slogan on social media.
“One Team, One Dream” is Athletic’s new motto, with Johnson and other SportsDirect.com Park officials keen to move on from the old “Keep The Faith”.
Johnson revealed that he talked with Athletic’s commercial department before launching the new slogan.
He said: “We felt ‘Keep The Faith’ was almost a double negatve.
“(One Team, One Dream) is an ideal slogan, really, because it is a dream.
“We know where we are. It’s not as though we are the biggest spenders.
“But we all have the spirit of Oldham Athletic, everybody enjoys the club, there is only one team to support which is us and within that one team we have the dream of getting promoted, so why give up on it?
“We are a club that have been in the division for a long time
“People have come to expect mediocrity, but that’s what we don’t want.
“I’m not saying we are going to storm the league by getting a 100 points and being promoted, but we are saying ‘come on, there are a lot good things happening – a new stand going up, the ‘Athleticos’ coming in, the little slogans and the new players.
“What we have to make sure for the fans is that the football doesn’t ruin a good day out.”
