TRUST in the manager’s plans, says the Latics chairman.
Watching from the directors’ box as his former managerial choice Paul Dickov saw his men crumble to a 2-0 loss, Corney feels the team needs to believe more in its own abilities.
“It was a much-improved performance, though in the first half I did think we were still a little bit afraid to impose ourselves on the game,” the chairman said afterwards.
“I just think we need more trust in what we are about. The manager got his tactics right and we could have scored a lot more times in the second half. Doncaster were poor and seemed to throw in the towel.”
Manager Lee Johnson was pleased with the way his team maintained its composure: “I was pleased they saw it out. We did that really well. It was one of the most pleasing things to watch and we conserved energy doing that, too. Top sides do that well.”
