A great advert for League One - Johnson

LEE Johnson saluted the sterling efforts of Chesterfield goalkeeper Tommy Lee after his men played out an entertaining away draw.

Lee, often a thorn in Athletic's side, produced a string of saves before and after Jonathan Forte had given Athletic a short-lived lead from the penalty spot.

Sam Clucas levelled with a sharp volley eight minutes later and though substitute Jabo Ibehre and then Forte again went close to helping Athletic to three points, the game finished all-square.

“It was a great save from Lee off Jabo Ibehre,” said Johnson. “He seems to have that flying arm that comes out of nowhere. He’s a top, top goalkeeper. If he had been taller, he would be a Premier League goalkeeper.”

While Johnson was upset about the Spireites' 57th-minute equaliser – “a definite foul” on Winchester, in his view – he was pleased his side played such a part in a grand advert for the quality of football in the league.

“It was a good game, wasn't it?” he said. “End to end, full of attacking play and great saves from both goalkeepers. It was exactly the game we said it would be. A really good spectacle for League One.”
