Tyson’s blow was below the belt

DONCASTER represented two points dropped rather than one gained — or at least that was the feeling in the dressing room afterwards, as we contemplated how we let slip a two-goal lead.

There were plenty of controversial moments in the game and when Nathan Tyson pulled one back for Rovers, I really did think it was a foul on me.

He put his elbow in my face as he went up for the ball and I can’t see how he could have won that header without taking me out.

But that’s the nature of the game. Sometimes you get referee decisions in your favour and sometimes you don’t. Even with 10 men, we should have won the game.

We need to be aiming to be in contention for the top six with 10 games left to go. We are at the halfway point of the season and we feel hard done by, rather than proud, of what we have achieved so far.

That shows the attitude of the players in terms of where we want to be.

After the results dip we had in December, we are definitely playing better at present and have dominated the last two games.

The transfer window is open and we have to look to improve — and most importantly of all, change the results.

I feel I have got a point to prove personally, now I am back in the team. I want that shirt - and I’m not alone in that. We all have to go out with that attitude to make sure we get three points on Saturday.

It’s a big week coming up, with Fleetwood then Rochdale then the trip to Gillingham a week tomorrow.

Getting some serious points in the bag will see us move back into the top half of the table.
