From pie in the sky to crust in the dust...

ATHLETIC fan Andrew Marshall was crust-fallen after seeing his favourite half-time snacks hit the deck in front of the away stand at Fleetwood — only to see fill-in left-back Connor Brown come to the rescue.
Having emerged from the stall at the interval with three steak and kidney pies in one hand and a hot Bovril in the other, the delivery driver was all set to enjoy the action at Highbury.
Then came Carl Winchester’s goal six minutes into the second half.
And, as he stood near the goal, TV pictures picked up a fellow fan accidentally knocking Andrew’s pastry-plied hand in the ensuing celebrations.
Andrew’s three pies, which he insists weren’t all for himself, looped into the air and landed in front of the advertising boards.
“I lost all of the pies, but Connor Brown handed one back to me and gave my mate another,” Andrew confirmed.
“The other one was picked up by a steward.”
Despite the drama, the Athletic fan’s hunger for the action remains.
“It was a brilliant day, all in all,” he added. “The first half wasn’t perfect, but the two goals after that made it for me.”
The story of his pies’ parabolic journey from hand to ground was a hit on social media once the footage of the incident went public.
And even the Athletic players themselves had a chuckle at the incident, asking for the footage to be replayed when going through the video analysis of the game this week.
“It’s brilliant, isn’t it?” said Danny Philliskirk.
“Especially with Connor Brown giving him one back. All the lads had a good laugh at it. We rewound it a few times.”
