KENNY Jones shows off his fan of the month award.
ATHLETIC fan Kenny Jones has been named the Sky Bet League One ‘fan of the month’ for February.
Kenny has followed the club for 55 years and prior to the start of this season hadn’t missed a game for 11 years.
At the start of this campaign, Kenny was diagnosed with terminal cancer, but has continued to follow Athletic home and away, missing only seven games. The club arranged a birthday party on Saturday for him, with many current and former players attending.
Kenny said: “It is fantastic that the club nominated me for the award. When I was selected as the winner I thought it was a joke. I started following the club because of my father and grandad’s love of Oldham.
“I have a lot of highlights from over the years. But when Sir Tom Finney arranged a lift home for me after we played Preston away stands out the most.”
Athletic’s commercial manager and supporter liaison officer Jenny Warburton said: “Kenny has supported the Latics through thick and thin for close on 55 years. Even now he will not let his team down and is there to support his beloved side. Kenny’s the salt of the earth.”
