WHEN Oldham Athletic equalised on Good Friday to earn a draw against League One table toppers Bristol City, the ground erupted in celebration - but one fan stood out.

Diehard Latics supporter George Parkin (15) became an internet sensation when a video of his flamboyant topless celebration was uploaded to social media and viewed more than 2,500 times after the match.

Sky Sports News cut to SportsDirect.Com Park when Athletic’s Carl Winchester found the back of the net. But behind the reporter, Saddleworth School pupil George was celebrating by punching the air with his top off in the Chaddy End and drawing all eyes. Fans took to Twitter to laud George’s passion.

The teenager, who has been to all Latics’ last 95 games didn’t see what the fuss was about: “I celebrate all of Latics’ goals that way,” he said. “I celebrated Carl Winchester’s equaliser a bit more as it was against Bristol City who are top of the table. I thought we could go on to win.”

George is a proud member of the Athleticos — Latics’ singing section, formed to bring like-minded supporters together.

But George had one admission, despite his celebration: “I actually didn’t see the goal - my mate was talking to me.”
