Holden plotting high-points finish

DEAN Holden remains focused on giving Athletic a fitting send-off to the season, despite his own future being up in the air.

The final game - a home tie against Peterborough - on Sunday (12.15pm), marks the end of Holden’s current reign as boss.

Chairman Simon Corney is expected back at the club soon and hopes to name his chosen boss for next season and beyond. Whether that is Holden remains to be seen — but he remains positive and hopes to put an end to a run of seven matches without a win.

“We need to get three points,” said Holden, who today put the squad through fitness tests.

“It’s been a long season with plenty of ups and downs. For all that has happened on and off the pitch, we want to end on a high.”

Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony has denied a report that his club is interested in employing Holden - a former Posh player - as manager.

“Love Deano to bits but no truth in this article,” MacAnthony tweeted.

“I got a text to say the story had appeared in a newspaper, but I know nothing about it,” said Holden, who suggested Anthony Gerrard and Luke Woodland could be in contention for a squad place for the game.

More than 500 season tickets in the new North Stand have already been bought by supporters.

Former Lookers Stand season ticket holders have taken advantage of priority booking over the last two days.
