There’s no rest for City stars just yet

The City roving reporter winds up another season of articles for Chron Sport
AN so ends another Premier League season.

Manchester City wrapped up their games with a routine win against Southampton, making it six on the spin going into the close season.

Hopefully that will help with the mood in the camp over the summer now, though there’s no time for resting up just yet. The City players flew to Toronto yesterday and play a couple of friendly games in Canada and then Houston, Texas, this week. The party is then going to watch New York play on Saturday.

After that most of the lads will be playing internationals before they can then finally take a well-earned break before a City tour Australia and Indonesia beckons in July.

They don’t the long breaks that I used to enjoy in the summer when I was a player. I wasn’t an

international so I used to get a couple of months off. I was always ready for it, though.

Don’t forget, footballers don’t get Christmas or Easter off.

Between July and May was always a long time to go without a break, and so I used to make the most of it back in the day. I used to to try to get away for six or seven week holidays to Spain and I loved it.

Spending that amount of time away used to really recharge the batteries ahead of another season.

This summer I’ve got a holiday to the Algarve booked and I’ll be off to Nice for a few days, while I’m

particularly looking forward to going to watch the Open golf up at St Andrew’s.

In terms of work at City, I’m in this week and I’ve just been planning a fun, tongue-in-cheek review of the City season with one of the website cameraman.

That should be good and it’ll be on the website soon.

Have a great summer and I’ll be back with more thoughts and observations in August.
