REAL HANDFUL: former Athletic loanee Jabo Ibehre in action for Carlisle against Preston on Tuesday.
ATHLETIC’S band of defenders may be bruised and battered by tomorrow evening - after tangling with Jabo Ibehre.
The bustling forward, who proved an effective foil for Jonathan Forte on loan to Oldham last season, has signed for Carlisle on a free transfer from Colchester.
The Londoner made his debut in Tuesday’s 4-3 home win against Preston and is enthusiastic about the challenge ahead.
“I’ve been around playing Carlisle for a few years now and I’m really excited about being here and how things have gone so far,” Ibehre said. “It’s been really pleasing. I’m looking forward to getting the shirt on.”
Carlisle have faced turmoil behind the scenes this summer with talk of a potential billionaire investor coming on board. Meanwhile the club hopes for a progression on the pitch from last season’s 20th place.
One man in Athletic’s squad who will be particularly familiar with his surroundings tomorrow is Connor Brown, who had a two-month loan spell at the club last term.
Whether he or Brian Wilson will feature tomorrow remains to be seen.
