Deadline day news: Latics swoop for defender

ATHLETIC have completed a loan move for Celtic defender Eoghan O'Connell.
This deal, which runs until January 1, 2016, is subject to international
clearance.
The 20-year-old central defender has started one game for Celtic this
season, in a 3-1 victory over Dundee United.
O'Connell bolsters the defensive options for manager Darren Kelly, who has
seen another loan signing Jonathan Burn suffer a hamstring injury.
"I have seen him play on several occasions and I know what he can bring to
the team," Kelly said of his transfer deadline day acquisition.
O'Connell will be unavailable for tonight's Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie at
Shrewsbury.
