CHESTERFIELD 1, ATHLETIC 2

A DRAMATIC late own goal by Tommy Lee goal handed David Dunn's three points at a soaking wet Proact Stadium.

Danny Philliskirk hammered in a skidding 30-yard shot which squirmed under the goalkeeper's body and onto a post, before entering the net off his back after 87 minutes.

Dominic Poleon had earlier converted a rebound from Giorgipo Rasulo's well-saved shot in the 72nd minute, after an improved second-half showing followed going behind to a Sylvan Ebanks-Blake goal in the first half.

An Athletic supporter was taken ill early in the first half with a suspected heart attack and was treated at length in the away stand while the game continued, before being transferred to an ambulance after his pulse had returned.

The game continued amid a sombre atmosphere in the away stand and Chesterfield had just about the edge in the opening 45 minutes.

The opening goal was a poor one from Athletic's point of view. Nobody picked up the overlap of Dan Jones and his cross deflected into the path of Ebanks-Blake, who controlled and fired home.

Liam Kelly almost levelled soon after with a drive from outside the box which deflected narrowly off target.

Athletic were better in the second half, pressing Chesterfield back for extended periods.

Mark Yeates saw two shots blocked in the box by Ian Evatt and with Poleon as part of a front two, had threat with pace in behind the defence.

The leveller came when Rasulo had only been on the pitch for three minutes, ending a six-hour goal drought for Dunn's men.

And Philliskirk's effort was the final word on what was a deserved three points.
