BEATEN . . . Joel Coleman
ATHLETIC 0, COVENTRY 2
ATHLETIC rounded off their season with a defeat, as goals from Romain Vincelot and Adam Armstrong gave the Sky Blues the spoils.
Vincelot rose to flick home from a corner on 74 minutes, before Armstrong finished with a well-taken left-footed shot seven minutes later.
It ended a run of four straight wins that had taken John Sheridan's side to safety.
Curtis Main went close with a first-half header that was acrobatically tipped over the top by Sky Blues goalkeeper Reice Charles-Cook.
At the other end, Jack Stephens and then George Thomas failed to find the target when well-placed, as the visitors threatened with the pace of Adam Armstrong.
A tame second half sprung to life when Joel Coleman did brilliantly to push out Jack Stephens' header, blocking the follow-up from Vincelot.
Seconds later, though, the resultant corner handed Tony Mowbray's men the advantage.
Armstrong doubled the lead with a neat finish from Jacob Murphy's pass and there was no way back for Athletic.
