FLEETWOOD are reportedly hot on the trail of Aaron Amadi-Holloway.

The 23-year-old striker, who led the line well for Athletic while on loan from Wycombe, is a
permanent target for John Sheridan after he turned down the chance to sign a new contract with the League Two club.

Amadi-Holloway scored two goals in 10 appearances for Athletic — both in the losing cause against Rochdale — and is seen as a player of considerable potential.

However, while the powerful Cardiff-born player was linked with a switch to Rangers earlier this season, a fresh report has suggested Athletic’s League One
rivals Fleetwood have moved in to secure themselves a
permanent deal for the ex-Newport and Bristol City man.

Meanwhile, Athletic will arrange matches against Stalybridge, Preston and Sheffield Wednesday as part of a pre-season friendly programme that will not this year feature a summer camp.

A reserves outing against Manchester United’s under-21s could also be in the offing to give important game-time to Sheridan’s squad. .

Sheridan says it won’t be easy to bring in players this summer, but he is confident he knows what is required.

“I have a report of who is available,” he said. It will be difficult — a lot of sides are releasing a lot of players, so that means a lot of sides are trying to bring a lot in as well.

“You have to make sure you get the right players in for the sort of system you want to play. If you are organised, with balance to your team — and have someone who puts the ball in the back of the net — then you can do alright."
