Swindon match views . . .

STEPHEN Robinson offered a damning assessment of his team's performance after they had been comfortably beaten by a seemingly out-of-form Swindon.

He said: "There's no hiding away from it, that was disappointing.

"That was as poor as we've been all season, and I don't think it's often when you see nine players not coming to the game.

"We lacked intensity and we lacked a desire which is something that's not been associated with us in any way, shape or form so far this season.

"The only two players to come out with any credit were Connor Ripley - who was magnificent - and Peter Clarke.

"Everybody else needs to take a long, hard look in the mirror.

"Of course I will take a big, big portion of the blame. I've put players in and given them a chance again after what was a really good performance at Coventry.

"But there's people chomping at the bit to get back in, and now's the time to make changes I think.

"No player ever goes out intentionally to play poorly, but we needed somebody to spark us, and nobody did that.

"Even the subs that came on didn't give us the spark that we were after, but that's how it was. It wasn't good enough from start to finish."

Robinson felt for the fans, who had booed off his team at the final whistle.

The manager added: "There was just nothing on show, and I do feel sorry for the people who came to watch the game. It was poor.

"We lacked quality and intensity, and those are givens for my teams normally.

"If you sit off teams like Swindon they'll get round you. There was some really poor defending from us and we were always susceptible to a counter-attack once we'd made our changes."

Star man Connor Ripley was the only player singled out for praise following a truly miserable afternoon.

Robinson said: "Connor's been superb all season, and I think there's a few boys back there who need to buy him a drink or shake his hand.

"It could have been four or five. One of his saves was world class.

"He was one of the few that came out with any credit."

Relieved Swindon boss Luke Williams was delighted to end a run of three straight defeats.

He said: "Our away form hasn't been too great in recent weeks and months, and to be honest a few things have been going against us, but everything seems to work in our favour here and I thought we were excellent value for the three points."
