Hunt for post office raider
Date published: 07 January 2014
A THIEF climbed through a gap in a Failsworth post office ceiling to steal money.
The man went into Watchcote Post Office on Oldham Road, Failsworth on Christmas Eve and demanded money from staff.
He picked up a lottery stand and threw it at the staff screen — and when it didn’t break he removed ceiling tiles so he could climb through the gap and get behind the counter. Staff rushed upstairs and hit the panic alarm, so the thief grabbed cash from the counter, climbed back through the gap and ran off.
He is described as in his twenties, white, 6ft tall and slim.
