New Year’s Eve carjack terror

ARMED raiders threatened a driver with an 8in blade in a terrifying carjacking incident in the early hours of New Year’s Eve.

The victim and his friend, both 22, were targeted on Hale Lane, Failsworth at around 12.10am.

Two robbers approached the BMW and one knocked on the driver’s window. When it was opened he held the knife to the motorist’s chest.

The attackers opened the doors, snatched a mobile phone and forced the victims out, then went through their pockets before driving away.

One of the offenders is described as Asian, around 5ft 10in tall, stocky with bushy eyebrows. He wore a grey hooded top with orange stripes and a black scarf over his face.

The second offender is mixed-race, 5ft 10 or 11in tall and stocky, He wore a ski mask.

PC Phil Greenwood, based at Oldham, said: “This was a frightening and humiliating ordeal.

“We want to hear from anyone who saw the car in the immediate aftermath of this incident or saw these two men acting suspiciously.”
