AN Oldham policeman has been cleared of being a voyeur in changing rooms for the second time in his career.

PC David McManus (43) was arrested on suspicion of voyeurism last July, when it was claimed he peered under a cubicle in the communal dressing rooms at the Chadderton Wellbeing Centre.

Greater Manchester Police will take no further criminal action against the licensing officer, but he will face an internal GMP investigation.

Over a decade ago PC McManus, from Failsworth, was on trial accused of an indecent act in the female changing rooms at TK Maxx in Manchester. He was cleared by a jury after saying he thought the dressing room was communal.

Following the latest accusation PC McManus was arrested at Bootle Street police station in Manchester, where he works.

A GMP spokesman said: “GMP’s Professional Standards Branch has started an investigation and no criminal action will be taken against the officer.

While the internal investigation is carried out PC McManus is on restricted duties.
