OLDHAM entrepreneur Eric Bishyika hit the nation’s screens this week as part of a Channel 4 television documentary.

“Rich Kids Go Shopping” focused on young entrepreneurs from humble backgrounds who started their own business and how it had changed their way of life.

The 19 year old, from Hollinwood, set up Something Worthy, a clothing and accessories company, in 2010 while studying at Oasis Academy Oldham.

Due to complete an extended diploma in entrepreneurship and enterprise at the Peter Jones Academy based at Oldham College, Eric jumped at the chance to be featured in the show.

“We spent four days filming in various locations, including Oldham College, Manchester and London.

“The show wasn’t about brats with loads of cash; it was finding out how someone from humble backgrounds with no money had set up their business and if they had changed.

“I think I came across well. After the show aired on Monday I had a massive response on social media with people congratulating me and saying well done.”

As well as running his business and studying, Eric is touring schools across Greater Manchester giving inspirational talks to students of all ages.

He is also in the middle of writing a book “Discovering Something Worthy”, which tells the story of his journey to success, and he is planning to start a degree in fashion buying and merchandising in September.
