Bottom slapper faces jail

A MAN who gave a woman a "chilling" stare after slapping her on the bottom was warned by Manchester magistrates he could end up in jail.

The woman (34) was talking to her partner on the approach at Piccadilly railway station when Wayne Coley pounced.

It was 4am last Sunday morning and she told police: "I think my partner and I were both in shock.

"I thought this random guy got a kick out of what he did.

"He gave me a chilling stare that left me shocked and scared."

Describing the incident, she told police: "It was a full-handed slap as he walked past me.

"Then came the chilling block stare."

Foolishness

Prosecutor Gareth Hughes said the slap was witnessed by two police officers.

Out-of-work Coley (37), of Old Road, Failsworth, admitted sexually assaulting the woman.

He was bailed until September 27 for sentence with a 9pm-7 am curfew.

David Philpott, defending, said there was nothing sensible he could say about what Coley had done.

"He tells me the reason for the stare was because he thought he recognised the woman," said Mr Philpott.

"It was an act of sheer foolishness and I am not trying to reduce what he has done."
