The Recreation.
ROYTON indie hopefuls The Recreation have burst into the New Year scene with news of a forthcoming brand new double 'A' sided single release and another major headline gig in city centre Manchester.
The supremely talented four-piece - front-man and guitarist Owen Baldwin, guitarist Tom Atkinson, drummer George Porter and bassist Sam Sumner - have excitedly announced that they will headline their own showcase night at the popular Aatma venue in Manchester's stylish northern quarter on March 18.
Providing support on the night will be Essex-based rockers Wax Colour and Manchester's own M60.
The Rec have opted to try another headline night at Aatma following a similar gig there last autumn, which was close to a sell-out.
Front-man Baldwin told me: "Last time was such a class night down there.
"I'd probably go as far as to say it was the best gig we've played.
"We know now that we can fill it so it's perfect. When we feel like we need to go bigger we will, but for now Aatma works a treat and we can't wait for March 18."
Advance tickets for The Rec's headliner cost a measly THREE QUID, so I'd urge anyone to get along and support a terrific young band.
Tickets can be purchased from skiddle.com - there's a link on the band's Facebook page.
Meanwhile, The Rec's new double 'A' sided single will be released before the Aatma show.
The two tracks are 'Believe Me' and 'So Strong'. An exact release date will follow shortly.
Baldwin added: "This year is going to be class, thanks for the support."
