Haunting talk from ghostly Vince Cable

THE FRIDAY THING: ALL this talk about immigration, and especially the frightening Vince Cable evoking the image of Enoch Powell’s notorious Rivers of Blood speech struck me just how Alistair Sim-like Vince is, and what a good Scrooge he would have made.

He certainly has the face for the ghost of Christmas past or indeed for haunting houses, going about complaining that the people of the UK are schizophrenic because they have complaints about the possibility of flooding Britain with migrants from Bulgaria and Romania.

A great many ordinary UK citizens have concerns about incomers who are not likely to respond to our social norms. Perhaps Mr Cable should talk to some of them, to get a genuine picture of their very real concerns.

There is no paranoia about immigration: Cable’s rant is just the latest in a verbal onslaught aimed at making the Lib-Dems look and sound like a party that deserves to be in government.

It is a fantasy; just the latest reminder to chubby-cheeked Dave that he has brought a lot of trouble to his own back door by having anything at all to do with the likes of Cable and his petulant, sulky party leader.
