TO celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of the Inspiral Carpets’ hugely successful album “Life”, the band is running a competition to win a signed Inspirals T-shirt and goodie bag for the most interesting, funny, or heartfelt reminisence.

The Carpets have added another gig to their summer schedule. The Oldham legends will play at the Holmfirth Picturedrome on Friday, June 26.


IT’S set to be a great day out at the Miners’ Community Arts and Music Centre in New Moston on Sunday, May 24, when 29 of the freshest young artists from across the North-West feature at the Minefest festival.

There will be DJs, a comedy set and music from bands including Death to the Strange, From Carbon, Kingdom Lost, Forbidden Lands, Taser Puppets and many more. Doors open at 11am.


OLDHAM’S teenage mod aces 5ft Fez have announced that they will be supporting early 1980s revival stars The Chords at the Ribble Valley Mod Weekender later this year.

The Royton thee-piece, who will soon release a second EP, have played some exciting support slots recently. Matt, Ross and Joe are set to pack out Royton’s White Hart this coming Saturday night. Make sure you’re in there early. There will be more exciting news from 5ft Fez next week.


DENSHAW folk favourite Paul McGladdery and his band the Uncommitted are soon to release a new track they have recently recorded — “Daydream #1”.

Meanwhile, McGladdery and vocalist Gaynor Wilson will be performing at the Q Bar in Stalybridge on Wednesday, May 13.
