Perfect gig for Reader fans

EDDI Reader fans are in for a real treat on April 1 when the popular singer/songwriter plays Uppermill Civic Hall.

The bulk of what promises to be a terrific set on the night will feature tunes from her recently-released “Best of” album, the first career-spanning compilation by the supremely talented, unique and charismatic Scottish singer. The double album collects 30 of Reader’s most consistently beautiful, often deeply personal and intimate songs.


FAILSWORTH’S Lee Hollister will front his terrific Manchester Ska Foundation band at the Great Northern Ska Festival at the Bowlers Exhibition Centre in Trafford Park on Saturday, August 20.

The all-day showpiece event kicks-off at 3pm, going on until 3am the next morning, and will feature legendary ska artists such as The Selecter, The Beat, The Neville Staple Band, Rhoda Dakar (formerly of The Bodysnatchers and Special AKA), as well as the massively popular local outfit Manchester Ska Foundation.



EXCITEMENT is building ahead of the opening ‘Oldham Rocks’ showcase night, featuring Shadow Palace and Ryan Jarvis at Jackson’s Pit on Saturday, April 9.

Provision has been made for the venue to admit 16 to 18-year-olds - soft drinks only.

The solo acoustic hopeful, famous in town for his mammoth charity efforts which have included playing 24 gigs in 24 hours, released “For Annie” and “Red Charlie” a fortnight ago and both tracks have already proved popular.


PUNK fans are in for a real treat on Saturday at Whittles in Oldham as original UK outfit Vice Squad — fronted by the brilliant Beki Bondage — are set to play a high-energy set at the King Street haunt. Tickets, priced £5, are now available.


locally-based indie rock ’n’ rollers The Visitors will host their own headline gig at Dave Flint’s Shure 5 Studios in Royton on Saturday, April 2. The intimate venue is sure to be packed out for what promises to be a great night.
