MUSIC EXTRA: A BIG thumbs-up goes to Oldham tribute legend Morgan Fletcher, who has just secured a new weekly residency at Tara Leisure in Shaw.

The popular venue is under new management, which has booked former Every Which Way star Morgan to play on Saturday nights. It’s free entry and special guest nights are promised. Morgan is even, he says considering reforming the band in which he made in the 1980s.

“This is going to be my last stand before I hang up my microphone,” he said. “As long as people keep showing up, so will I.”

TWO cracking free entry shows are in prospect this weekend at the ever-popular Whittle’s live music venue in town. Hard rock, progressive blues, alt folk and psychedelia are promised on Friday as Stone Sole River roll into town.

On Saturday, terrific rock cover outfit Aces n Eights promise yet another brilliant night.

A FEW tickets still remain for Cupids’ eagerly-awaited Manchester date this weekend.

Sid, Jake, Ryan and James are headlining the latest When in Manchester showcase night at Gullivers on Saturday. Tickets via a Skiddle link on Cupids’ Facebook page.

SHADOW Palace have excitedly posted their new single - “Tribe” - on their Facebook page. The local indie hopefuls, who stormed the opening Oldham Rocks night at Jackson’s Pit last weekend, say the track is “big, fat, dirty rock n roll”. You won’t be disappointed.

BRAHMA-Loka’s latest track — “Noble Savage” — was given an airing on Radio 1 last week. The offering was played by new music specialist Phil Taggart as he sat in for regular evening presenter Huw Stephens.

THE Pigeon Detectives have been announced as the main stage headliners at the Party in the Pines festival in Lincolnshire on August 6. Oldham aces Jonny Brown and Shadow Palace will also feature on a cracking bill.
