OLDHAM RL are mourning the death of former player Terry Ramshaw at the age of 74.

A rugged forward from Yorkshire, he signed for Oldham in the 1975-76 season from Hull KR for a bargain £500.

Most of his 32 appearances were in the front row at a time when his contemporaries would include the likes of his fellow Yorkshiremen Brian Hughes and Barry Kear as well as Ray Hicks, Steve Herbert, Gareth Owen and Kevin Flanagan.

On a temporary basis in the 1976-77 season, he shared Watersheddings coaching responsibilities following the death of head coach Jim Challinor.

Terry, who also played for Featherstone, Bradford, Wakefield, Halifax and Salford, left Oldham in 1977 to sign for York.

He also played in the 1966 Championship final for Halifax, who lost 35-12 to St Helens and also in the final of the 1973 John Player Trophy competition for Salford, who lost 12-7 to Leeds.

He was a member of Oldham Former Players' Association.

Terry's funeral is on Friday, January 27 at 11.40am at Pontefract Crematorium. There will then be a reception at Featherstone Rovers.
