Fingers crossed for injured Joy

PROP Phil Joy, who dislocated a shoulder in the narrow home defeat by London Broncos six weeks ago, is waiting for a second scan before he returns to see his consultant.

Roughyeds hope he'll have it this week - together with the good news that he doesn't need surgery.

"We've got fingers crossed on that one," said coach Scott Naylor.

"He's already had five or six weeks of intense rehab, and he's still working hard to get back on the pitch as soon as possible.

"He needs good news this week when we get the scan results and so long as he doesn't need an operation he could be back within three to four weeks after that."

TRAINING

Full-back Scott Turner, who has a knee injury, did light training with the club's medical team last night and he will be assessed again tomorrow, ahead of Sunday's game against Bradford Bulls at Bower Fold (3pm).

Naylor and his coaches had an in-house debriefing, with the squad, of the heavy defeat at Batley Bulldogs.

"We looked at it, discussed a few points and put it to bed," said the Roughyeds' head coach.

"We got ourselves on a slippery slope and we had so much tackling to do that we ran out of energy.

"That's in the past though. Our focus now is on Bradford."

Coached by former Aussie star and Manly boss Geoff Toovey (47), the new, re-formed Bulls have won four of their first seven Championship games to reduce their minus-12 deficit to minus-four.

They have stated publicly they aim to be off the bottom by Easter.

Oldham's season-ticket holders have until Friday, April 28 to claim their free Summer Bash tickets.

They can collect them at Bower Fold on Sunday or when Swinton Lions visit on Good Friday or by phoning the club on 07904 898177 to arrange.

Seat holders can get them on Sunday at the main reception between 1.30pm and 2.45pm. Standing members collect from the shop inside the ground from 2pm to 2.45.

Early-bird tickets for the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup fifth-round tie at Featherstone on Sunday, April 23, offering savings of £6 for adults and £4 concessions, will also be on sale.

The game against Toulouse Olympique away on Saturday week, April 8, will be played at the Stade Ernest Argeles in Blagnac, kicking off at 6pm (Central European time).
