Scott eyes selection tonic

SCOTT Naylor hopes to recall several senior players for Oldham's clash with top-four French side Toulouse Olympique at Bower Fold on Sunday.

Having dropped into the bottom two when beaten at Bradford Bulls with a severely-depleted and battle-scarred squad playing its third game in eight days, Roughyeds are fighting for Championship survival.

They've 11 games left - a minimum six at Bower Fold - and every one will be like a cup-tie as Naylor's men strive to end a run of eight straight losses.

They want home fans to provide an intimidating atmosphere at Bower Fold, especially this Sunday when the French come for the first time after losing in a similar-sized stadium at Dewsbury last time out.

George Tyson, Luke Adamson and Joe Burke could be back in contention and there was good news about Michael Ward, who hurt an ankle at Bradford, but was said to be okay after last night's recovery and medical-assessment session.

Sammy Gee will also be available because his disciplinary charge for striking in the Summer Bash game against Rochdale was adjourned last night, as was the verbal-abuse charge against Rochdale centre Lewis Galbraith. The panel is requesting further evidence.

Scott Leatherbarrow (ankle) is doubtful for weekend, while Danny Grimshaw (hamstring) has only a slight chance of making it.

CLEARANCE

Scott Turner's return will hinge on how soon he can see a specialist for clearance after suffering concussion in the ill-fated Dewsbury game.

Richard Lepori (ankle), Jack Spencer (groin) and Gareth Owen (foot) are still under treatment and won't be ready this week.

Owen might even need a scan.
