Naylor only has eyes on Oldham

COACH Scott Naylor has his focus solely on Oldham RL's on-going endeavours to stave off relegation in the Kingstone Press Championship.

While he could be forgiven for keeping an eye on the fortunes of fellow strugglers Swinton on match days, Naylor says all his efforts are on influencing Roughyeds in their battle to beat the drop.

Oldham are second-bottom in the table, a point adrift of the Lions with five Shield games to go. They meet on Sunday, September 10 in what could be a relegation decider.

Naylor said: "I just concentrate on the game.

"I have a stats man who sits with me and if things are interesting he lets me know, but I don't ask any questions.

"I can't control what happens at Swinton. I just concentrate on what we're doing."

SNATCH

Reflecting on the recent Bradford Bulls defeat, Naylor believed his side were going to snatch a thrilling fightback victory, which would have lifted them out of the bottom two.

He explained: "I really thought when we started coming back, we started getting field position and we got to 20-16, I really thought we were going to nick it.

"And I think that would have been absolutely enormous in the context of trying to stay in the division.

"But we didn't, everyone else around us got beat, so we've just got to kick on again and Sunday is another opportunity.

"Batley away is very tough, but everyone in this division is beatable."
