ROUGHYEDS reserves trio Ben Heaton, Phil Jagger and Mohammed Tamghart are facing a combined ban of up to 17 matches, having been charged by the RFL following their alleged involvement in a brawl at Barrow.

Each player has been cited for punching in the 37th-minute incident at Craven Park 10 days ago, much to the displeasure of Oldham officials.

“The club is not happy with the players’ actions and they have been informed of our feelings,” said chief executive Chris Hamilton, who is in the process of conducting an end-of-season report on second team individuals along with coach John Hough.

Tamghart, the younger brother of first-team powerhouse Said, was on trial at the club when the incident occurred during a 40-8 defeat.

Given that he faces between a three and eight-game suspension, it is very doubtful, especially given the supposed severity of his actions, whether he would be welcomed back at the Roughyeds.

Jagger is looking at between two and five matches on the sidelines.

Having already served a three-match ban for a headbutt in a 22-20 home defeat against Hunslet earlier in the season, the disciplinary committee are unlikely to be lenient on the young Oldham St Anne’s forward.

Heaton, meanwhile, will receive a verdict ranging from no further action to a four-match suspension.

Two Barrow players will also be charged at the hearing which is held in Leeds tomorrow night. Oldham will make personal representations.

Meanwhile, the first-team squad convenes for training tonight ahead of the final game of the season, at home to Workington Town at Boundary Park on Sunday.

A third-placed finish in National League Two, bringing with it a home qualifying play-off tie, will be the least the Roughyeds can expect should they round off the season by maintaining a 100-per-cent home record in all competitions.
