York test in play-offs

Date published: 23 August 2010

OLDHAM Roughyeds will face York City Knights at home in a Co-operative Championship One qualifying play-off on Sunday, September 12 (3pm kick-off).

Hornets RL were the only side capable of overtaking the Knights to claim third spot, but they lost 26-16 at home to Blackpool in their final game of the season.

Oldham will attempt to take revenge on a York side who ran out 34-28 winners at the Whitebank Stadium earlier this season.

The winners of the tie will progress to the play-off final which will be played at Warrington's Halliwell Jones Stadium on Sunday, September 26.

The losers will get a second chance against Blackpool, Hornets RL, South Wales or Workington.

Hunslet rubber-stamped their title victory by seeing off South Wales 32-24 at the South Leeds Stadium.

The Roughyeds have one game left in the regular campaign, away to London Skolars on Friday night (6.30pm kick-off).

All the best in the play-offs. One can only hope that all goes well.

Maybe it's better to lose and have a second game if the latest financial news is anything to go by!!

So, providing Oldham beat London Skolars this weekend, they will end up with a 100% winning away league record. Quite a unique feat in the modern era; irrespective of the sport.
All thst remains, is to guess which Yorkshire club will yet again beat us in the grand final.
York springs to mind!
