Just the ticket for RL fans

Date published: 13 November 2012

OLDHAM RL have reduced match-day admission prices for next season.

In the wake of coach Scott Naylor's impassioned plea for more public support, Roughyeds have announced across-the-board cuts of £1 at the turnstiles and have included in the price of a season ticket a 10-per-cent discount on 2013 replica shirts and leisure wear.

If the club continues to run an under-18s or under-19s team – a decision will hinge on the outcome of an RFL review of age-related rugby beneath first-team level – season-ticket holders will also get free admission to that team's home league games.

Said club chairman Chris Hamilton: "In fixing our prices, discounts and offers we have taken the tough economic climate into account.

"With a guarantee of only 10 games at Whitebank all season we don't have much leeway, but we have done the best we can for supporters while bringing in a new coaching team and rebuilding with a squad of players, many of them new to the club, who are hungry for success.

"All clubs are heavily dependent on season-ticket sales and we hope as many fans as possible will be able to take advantage of what we have on offer."

Season tickets cover eight home league games and two home games in the group stage of the Northern Rail Cup.

Last season's seat holders can renew the same seats up to 5pm on November 30, 2012, after which they will go on general sale.

RFL decisions on the future of under-23s (reserves) and under-18s competitions are still awaited, but Roughyeds — one of the few clubs in the second and third tiers to fly the flag for reserve-team rugby in recent seasons — believe it is unlikely there will be an under-23s competition in 2013.
