Parent club calls on Files

OLDHAM RL have given partners Salford City Reds a helping hand ahead of a pre-season warm-up clash with Wigan Warriors at the Salford City Stadium tonight (7.45pm).

The Super League club’s highly-rated hooker Adam Files (19) is at Whitebank on a season-long loan agreement which doesn’t include a call-back clause.

Roughyeds were happy to allow the youngster to return to Salford for one game - but Salford still required dispensation from the RFL.

Files will show what he can do against some of the biggest names in Super League.

Oldham chairman Chris Hamilton said: “Given Salford’s current problems off the field, it was the least we could do to grant their request.

“Our coach Scott Naylor had no problem with it and it also suited Adam to get the opportunity to play in a game like that.”

Files is one of 22 players so far registered with the Roughyeds, five of whom have previously played under Naylor or his assistant, Lee Spencer, at Salford.
