Nield is the hero for under-20s

WITH five conversions from six attempts and a couple of late tries for good measure, centre Steven Nield scored more than half his side's total as Oldham RL under-20s swept to a convincing 35-18 win at Whitebank against the second team of Championship leaders Halifax.
Oldham scored six tries to three, attacking with flair and defending with commitment and determination.
A Sam Singleton drop-goal edged Roughyeds into a seven-point lead at 25-18, after which the home side had to put in a spot of overtime on defence before two-try Nield sealed Fax's fate.
Victory was no more than Oldham deserved after playing up the slope in the first half and turning round with an 18-6 lead thanks to tries by stand-off Paddy Fitzsimmons, second-row man Brad Hargreaves and hooker Andy Ball.
Singleton chased a kick to score the fourth Oldham try before Nield secured the Roughyeds' triumph with his double whammy in the last 15 minutes.
